AmazingThis book is not just a history book it is an inspiration. At the end of the book it has a website, with prices and tickets. After watching the movie "Freedom Writers" I became interested in Anne Frank's story--much more so than in high school, when I read "The Diary of Anne Frank." I am even more interested at this point, since I am planning a trip with a friend to Amsterdam (among other places). I definitely want to visit this museum. I downloaded this ebook to get a preview of the museum and was pleasantly surprised at the contents. The ebook not only gives you the rules and policies of the museum, but also the best times to visit to avoid crowds. You also get a virtual tour of the museum so you know what to expect and what to look for when you actually visit. There are helpful resources, such as where to buy tickets online and where to read more online (the museum website). I checked out both and will definitely be using them before attempting to visit the museum. This short ebook packs in all the information a potential visitor needs to maximize a tour of museum. If you are planning to visit the Anne Frank House, this book is a must read to get you both prepared and inspired for your trip. Filled with information and unknown facts about the property and surrounding area, this book offers insight about not only the property, but also prepares you for the emotions you will likely experience once you arrive. Having never visited, I now feel like I have a vision for the property itself and a little more insight on the life and struggles of Anne Frank. Within these pages you'll find her bibliography in addition to historical information, including how her diary came to be published. An informative read, to say the least.
The Anne Frank House book by Leisbeth Heenk and Marko Kassenaar is a very quick read and has some fascinating information for all who intend to visit there. It warns readers that the visitation will be an emotional experience and it is definitely that. I was there in '98 and I was overwhelmed. Seeing Anne's writings on the wall was incredibly powerful. The book gives a good history of the Frank family and the house they lived in. It also talks about the Chestnut tree that Anne so loved and describes the tree as 'possibly the most famous tree in all of Europe.' I wish I had the book before I went because I'm sure I saw that tree but did not understand its significance. If you are going to visit the site, a book like this helps you prepare properly.
I think this book, albeit very brief, is a great introduction not only to this important museum, and also a great book to read with your kids. The book includes family history, great images, info on the surrounding neighborhood and notes on the historical context. The book reminds us of why Anne Frank is an important figure and an inspiration to us all, even if at the cost of great tragedy.

No one can think about, talk about, read about Anne Frank and not feel emotional. What she and her family experienced is a reminder yet again, that war is hell. The author gives us a look inside the Frank house and Anne's room. Anne's story has stood the test of time and the author brings it to life again. Kassenaar inspires us to want to visit Anne Frank's museum.
Although the information in this book was interesting and useful, the overall book was far less extensive than I expected or hoped for. More pictures would also have been appreciated, and would have helped emphasize the points being talked about. Still, what was there was good.
Seemed strange reading someone's diary but it gave a good picture of what the Jewish people endured during this terrible time. Interestingly to note that Anne's inner self was very different from her outward self.
