Another excellent issue. I particularly liked Peter Enfantino's affectionate review of the Magazine of Horror and his summaries of a a digest I had never heard of called "Justice Amazing Detective Mysteries." These reviews remind me of the great work of Richard and Everett Bleiler - the bibliographers who actually read every science fiction digest in the 20s and 30s and provided a guide to mostly what to avoid. The only criticism I have of the magazine is that although the fiction pieces were good, but I would concentrate more on non-fiction.

Another interesting issue of this niche publication for enthusiasts of digest format publication, new and old. Mystery (especially Ellery Queen) and Hoor are the focus of this issue, with review and synopses of classics (especially from the 50s) and new fiction stories as well. If you have fond memories of these classic newsstand digests--and especially if you're a collector--you will enjoy this seies.

I have the 6th edition of Janet Burroway's Writing Fiction, bought used since it's a college textbook and thus more expensive than you'd expect. When I noticed the 10th edition listed in upcoming books here on Amazon, and at a cheaper price, I was intrigued. The contents of the book are mostly the same, with some small shifting of topics between chapters, but the major differences are paper type (this edition uses a thicker paper you more commonly see with trade paperback books rather than the thinner paper you'd find in a college text) and the lack of actual stories found in the previous editions. In their place are lists of stories at the end of each chapter. Overall the content is there and probably just as good as before, but you are on your own in hunting down the example stories.

Very cute book for the little boy or girl who loves ballet. My daughter is 2 1/2 and just starting ballet class, but this book would be appropriate for any child in preschool or early elementary school. I love the photographs and descriptions of the real ballet terminology.

I bought this after my 3 year old's first ballet lesson and she just loves this book. We read it every night, although I just give her the gist of the story instead of reading all the words because she likes to talk about what she sees and ask questions on each page, too. She likes to point out each girl that has a pink or blue leotard just like hers, and find which one is Ursala on every page, etc. I think it has helped her understand what her teacher is asking them to do, as well. I can help her position her arms and legs like the girls in the picture until she can do it by herself, whereas the teacher doesn't really walk around and do that in her class. The girls' tutu's on the cover and back of the book are textured, she likes to touch them, and it helps her understand the recital outfits are special.

I bought this for my daughter's fourth birthday which happened to be of the ballerina theme. I like the book because the pictures are real photographed pictures, and it holds the child's interest in seeing a peer talk about her experiences going to and coming from ballet class, preparing for a recital, etc. It also introduces the child to some basic ballet steps through the art of photography. This is a nice addition to anyone wanting some books about ballet for their child. For the younger audience (ages 2-4)I Wear My Tutu Everywhere! (Reading Railroad Books)is also a great find!

I gave this to my 3-1/2 year old granddaughter as a gift, along with a ballerina doll, for her first ballet recital. She loves it. The pictures inside are real photos, not drawings. I would recommend this book for any young ballerina in the making.

She loved looking at the pictures and seeing what new pose her ballet teacher taught her in class.

My 3 yo loves this little book. Cute pictures of ballerinas and some ballet terms. It's a thin paperback and probably won't last long, but the price was commensurate with the sturdiness. Personally, I would have paid a little more to get a board book version!

The book is short and expensive, but perfect for a quick nighttime book in a hurry. My daughter loves this book though because of the pictures with the story along with it . It's all about what she thinks. I would say a 2 for price and quality she would say 5 for pictures and book . Definitely a must have for little beginner ballerinas !

I recently received my copy of "Linux Basics for Hackers" and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. This well-designed and well-written book takes newcomers to Linux and hacking through the basics of Linux and demonstrates how a hacker might use Linux. In addition, the author teaches a bit of BASH scripting and Python scripting with examples from the world of computer hacking.I highly recommend this book for the newcomer to hacking or information security. In fact, I will be using it in my "Introduction to Linux" class next semester at the local college where I teach.

I know that there are many good reviews for this book already and that I will be lost in the shuffle. However, I would like to give you my opinion.The book is not three inches thick. I don't have time to read a three-inch book.The book moves along at a great pace with just the right level of detail. If I want more detail on a subject, I've got the internet at my disposal.The book is not a tutorial. You can turn to any chapter and get instant value. I've been coding for 37 years. I hate tutorial books. I don't want to follow some tedious example for two-thirds of a book. I want the flexibility to learn at my own pace and learn subjects in the sequence I choose.The book says "hackers" and "Kali" but it is not. I wanted to learn enough Linux quickly in order to find my way around and be productive on that operating system. This book gave me that. I use Ubuntu desktop and server.

Everything you need to know to get a hood, satisfying foothold in properly learning system and network security. After this book, it's all practice and expanding on these ideas. Highly recommended!

I was a skeptic when I saw it. This book is not going to make you a super hacker or anything like that but it is well written, has practical and useful information. The chapters are the perfect length, not too long, not too short. You can read each chapter in about 30 minutes. I will be keeping my eyes open for any future books written by this author. If you are on the fence, take the plunge, it's a great book.

This is a great book that teaches the absolute basics of Linux. There are a few great chapters in here that are specifically geared towards hacking, however if you are looking for a book on hacking you may want to look elsewhere. This book is best for somebody with no Linux knowledge.I purchased this book to see if there were any tips or tricks that I could pick up on. It is a really easy to read and follow book and has a great format.

Coming from a programming background and already knowing a bit of linux, I found the chapters to be quite informative and well presented, and will take you anywhere from 15 to 35 minutes approx, many here have said that the book will not teach hacking, and that's half true, it will teach you all the basics of linux and some bash and python scripting, and in my opinion that's enough, you will never be able to hack by reading a book, but this book will give you all you need to get started in your journey. My only critique of this book is that the python scripting chapter is a little on the smaller side, having had experience in python programming, I didn't have a problem, but an absolute beginner to the world of infotech might have some difficulty.

I find this book to be more useful than Kali Linux Revealed. I am about half way through the exercises and I have learned a lot. If you're on Twitter, make sure to follow "Occupy the Web", this person posts useful stuff.
