We LOVE Pout Pout Fish at our house. This is a cute, short, simple story in the series. It is great for toddlers that are just starting to get into having a bedtime story read to them. This is one of the few stories that I am able to read to my 16 month old without him squirming. The pictures are cute, big and simple. The pages only have a few words per page which keeps my little one's attention. Definitely recommend.
We received the original Pout Pout Fish as a shower gift. My daughter LOVES this book. She reads it to herself and her baby dolls. When I saw that she was enjoying that book, I ordered this one. This is a much shorter book with less words. Each page has about 4 words and there are only 10 pages, if that. It's a nice story, but very short compared to the other book. It's not as exciting! However, we still read it each night as she insists we read all Pout Pout books.
I really loved the original Pout Pout Fish for its complex vocabulary, great poetry, and wonderful story line. This book is none of those things. Very few words at all with limited vocabulary and simplistic lyrics. I'm actually mad I bought this book. I'm giving it 2 stars because it is a cute short book in its own right but doesn't compare to the original at all.
My 1-yr-old loves "reading" this book before bed! I think he recognizes the main character from his older brother's books. So, it is a good set-up for more bedtime stories in the future with the amazing adventures of The Pout-Pout Fish!
This book isn't as entertaining as the original one, and has a lot less words. Seems geared more for 2 year olds, where they original suits my 5 year old better.
We love the original Buck, it's all of our favorites. We were expecting something at least a little bit similar to that. This has less words than the first page of the first book. Very disappointed. Maybe if we started with this book?
Mini adventure? We love the original pout - pout book but this one was definitely short maybe 5-8 pages and really no adventure. Baby book not a toddler book.
The original Pout Pout Fish is one of the best children's book I have come across. This however, was not great. The story is very short and overly simple. The rhythmic flow from the original book is totally lost. I would skip this book and pick something more interesting. I'll give it 2 stars because the illustrations are still nice and I could make up my own story to go along with the pictures.
