This was a gift for my teenage daughter. She loved it & couldn't put it down

This book was in great condition and arrived as expected. It was, however, shipped secondary after the wrong item was accidentally sent to us. But, it did not take long to get the correct one sent to us, and we got to keep the first book, which gave them another book to read. Great work by the seller putting customers' needs first. It was ordered as a project book for one of my children's school classes, and my child has been exstatic about reading it. I have received positive feedback from her thus far, which is really special to us.I remember when I was a child how I would hate to read. And even when I had to I would do so with contempt, I believe, because I would get no praise or involvement from my parents. They weren't much on reading either. And having went to college as an adult, I've come to realize how important it is to instill a passion for reading in our children, and books like "Heat" are perfect for young readers like ours.

Heat is a book about two brothers, Carlos and Michael, and the challenges they have to conquer in order to succeed. The story is a drama about both friendship and baseball. There are many things I liked and I didn't like in the book. First of all, I enjoyed how the book did not let you know what would happen next. I had no idea if any of the plans to stay together as a family after their dad died would work. When it came to the main characters, I really liked them. I was glad the book was not written from Justin's point of view, who was a mean kid Michael played against. I liked how the storyline was original and bold in that it was did not have a regular fairytale ending. I did not like how the writer did not talk about the boys' mother very much. It seemed like their mother was a ghost, and I wanted to know more about her. I found the beginning of the book confusing to figure out what was happening. The author did not give a lot of detail to the locations of the baseball games and exactly who some of the characters they mentioned were to the boys. I have some lingering questions about the book, like: How did Papi, Michael, and Carlos arrive in New York City? How come the government did not figure out the main characters were illegal immigrants? How did El Grande's family successfully make it to the USA if they were being tailed by the police so closely? Heat was fascinating to me because it book is cannot be compared to any book or movie that I have read or seen before. There a lot of little league baseball movies and books but none compare to this book. The storyline of Heat sets it apart from other baseball books because you really see where the characters are coming from. I have three favorite quotes from Heat. The first is from page 143, when Manny's uncle, Uncle Tio, says, "Silencio, no hay que gritas, no se vaya a despectar." This is funny because Uncle Tio is telling Michael not to scream and wake up the cat. Michael is glad Mr. Gibbs does not speak Spanish because Mr. Gibbs may realize that Uncle Tio is not the boy's dead father. Another good quote is when Michael and Uncle Tio hug when Uncle Tio is faking being Papi. They are both acting like father and son in front of Mr. Gibbs. Uncle Tio says, "My son," then whispered in Michael's ear saying, "Top that, dude." The best quote of all is when Manny and Michael are in the security check area of Yankee Stadium with El Grande and Ellie, who is El Grande's daughter and Michael's crush. Then Ellie asks Manny and Michael, "Are you ready?," asking them about playing in a tournament at Yankee Stadium. Manny says, "Are you kidding? We were born ready." I would almost definitely recommend this book to all ages, from little league to big league baseball players, to anyone person from any sport because it helps all athletes realize what they are playing for.

I bought this book for my grandson who loves reading books about baseball. It is a novel written by a famous writer. My grandson has not read it yet but he says he will soon. He said it looks like a good story. Recommend!

My ten year old loves playing outside...reading , not so much. Until I got him this. He ripped through it in a couple of days and now wants more Mike Lupica books.

Great book if you have a child that loves baseball. As an adult, I really liked it!

This book was on the summer reading list for my eleven year old son. This is now his favorite book. I enjoyed it as well. It was a very well told story that kept the reader engaged throughout.

This book is one of those examples of "all good things come in small packages". It is a very pleasant read and excellent for reference. Besides the free format syntax, the book also explains other things such as the use and syntax of Built In Functions and some aspects of ILE. Highly recommend this book to anybody thinking of using RPG Free.

This is a very easy book to learn RPG from. It is explained in easy to understand terms and language. If you know RPG IV and are trying to learn free format this is the book to buy. I have met the author and sit in two of the classes he thought and he is easy to learn from and makes learning fun.

The book is well organized. Covers the basic topics in RPG free format.Served me as a good starting point for RPG Free Format.Doesn't cover advanced topics such as DDS (Display Files, Printer Files, Phisycal Files or Logical Files) and SQL as well.

This book is good for the developer that just needs to know the new syntax for the opcodes and new %BIF's. The examples are clear, but not every situation. I think overall it was good. It took me from standard RPG IV to free format and it was pretty painless.

This book has been a great help in switching our new development to free format. It is filled with coding examples that clearly illustrate the free format syntax. It also provides insight into good coding techniques. All in all, a great book for the modern RPG programmer.
