I found this book to be very interesting. I won't go into details about the book because I do not want to ruin it for everyone but it is put together very well. I received this product on time and in mint condition. I am very happy I bought this on Amazon because everywhere else is much more expensive. The author is responsive and collective in their writing. I would highly recommend this book. It is good for teenagers and adult readers.

I've always loved buildings and although there will always be sadness about the fate of these most famous pair of landmarks, this book does an amazing job of conveying one fact: someone actually walked between them one day because he thought he could and carefully (for five years) planned his walk before doing it. The book does not explain why the towers fell which is great because if children are very young, they don't really need to know that. Illustrations are beautiful too.

This has so much meaning to those of us who lived through the 9/11 disaster. My husband and I collect Caldecott Medal winners & other beautifully illustrated books, and this is one of our favorites - always leaves us a little tearful at the end. And if you want to read the greatest first chapter ever written for a novel, read the beginning of "Let the Great World Spin" by Colum McCann - his (adult) description of the reaction on the street to this very same event is a miracle of the written word. Then you can read the rest of the book!

This book is a true classic--not only does it preserve a singular event in the history of the Twin Towers,through its text and beautiful illustration, it also shares the wonder and beauty of achieving an impossible dream.Phillipe Petit, the man this book is about, once said, “The wirewalker of great heights is a dreamer. He stretches out on his cable and contemplates the sky. There he gathers his strength, recovers the serenity he may have lost, regains his courage and his faith.” Gernstein manages to share that dream, strength, and serenity with those of us who may never dance in the sky a quarter mile above the ground.

I read this to my students on 9/11 they loved it! It was a cool way to talk about the towers in a positive happy light. Remembering what they were rather than focusing on all the terrible events of the day. My students are too young for me to explain much to them so I liked reading this along with talking about the disaster of that day.

Beautiful illustrations and well told tale of the tight rope walk between New York's Twin Towers so many long years ago. There's intrigue, the stunning imagery, tension and triumph. The human spirit is fierce and this book offers a clue to Phillipe Petit's mission. Page by page it's an adventure for the reader, too.

Very good for having the kids explain about why the illustrator drew the pictures a certain way and what mood did he want the readers to feel. Also good for little people when talking about Sept 11

I bought this for my daughter when she was five because I read it in a bookstore and was moved by the story and the art. I had wondered how to explain September 11 to my daughter, and this book was just the right way to approach the subject. The story about Phillipe is inspiring, even though he is technically breaking the law with his high-wire walk between the towers. He is punished, very appropriately, by the end of the story. The story is really about Phillipe's passion, and it does a wonderful job explaining why he took the risk of walking between these towers. And at the end, the book states "now the towers are gone" and it is a smooth segue into how the towers and so many people in them were destroyed. A solemn tale, but one my daughter wants to read again and again.
