It would have been much more satisfactory to offer several examples covering various domains of Microservices and explain why the Microservices were sized as such. However, the book does offer the following:• You can have a system that is both decentralized and governed, but it’ll cost you.• Make sure that Microservices are worth the cost to your organization before you delve into them – other optimizations to your development process may yield more immediate returns.• A good design process is an incremental design process.• It’s not sufficient to have ownership on a per-Microservice basis – the holistic view of the entire system also must have clear ownership.• Teams can and should be allowed to act on their own within safe boundaries established by the leaders.• “Eventual Consistency”, is an empowered, iterative style that is suitable for Microservices.• Capabilities-centric design is more suitable for Microservices than the more traditional data-centric design.• Infrastructure automation and operational maturity are important for Microservices teams.• Microservices are the antidote for the pernicious release coordination overhead.• Linux containers pre-date and are a natural deployment environment for Microservices.• Gateways are quite suitable for both securing as well as routing to Microservices.• Contextual controls may be a happy medium between total centrality and total decentralization.

The authors accurately and comprehensively took apart each of the organizational impediments to the "microservice way", explaining each with real-world examples. Very good read. Anyone trying to increase their influence on their organizations technical trajectory should pick up this book.

To be clear, the technical content is generally quite good, although it is very high level (you won't find any concrete implementation examples here, or even crisply-specified schematic level descriptions of worked examples), there is nontrivial repetition, and (to my taste) there is a lack of conciseness, taking three pages to say something when one page would do.My main complaint is that at $39.99 list (~$30 on Amazon), there's just not enough content—a mere 146 pages, and those are small pages with a fairly large font. It's as if these (very knowledgeable) authors submitted an extended outline for something that would have made a great but long technical article, and O'Reilly rushed them into turning it into a short book as quickly as possible.I've been perusing listings for other recent O'Reilly titles on this topic—Susan Fowler's "Production-ready Microservices" has been highly praised, but offers 172 pages for $38 (Amazon price), which is hard to justify for a technical book. If you bought both, you'd have spent ~$68 for ~300 pages of content that doesn't include much in the way of specifics.O'Reilly used to be the "go to" for concisely-written, clear, good-value books on rapidly-changing technical topics, but if this is what they've become, it's a lot less compelling.

First, I have to say that the book is very well-organized. Second, there are some good points and some chapters are quite strong.However, you could clearly feel that different chapters are written by different people. Some of the chapters were really tedious and not on point.What I found a big NO is the fact that in certain cases it is more about technology than the architectural principle behind it. The most obvious example is Docker. Yes, it is practically THE standard for Microservices, but I would like to hear a critical evaluation of it especially about what it is lacking. The overall Docker talk was very favourable and felt like an advert.I got the book for free at a conference, but I am not sure that the price of 32$ is justified for 100 pages. I would love to see updated version extending on the good points and deviating from technology.

One of the worst technical books I've read. The authors spent pages discussing irrelevant topics and repeatedly delved over and over these. Out of the 140 plus pages in this book, only a dozen have meaningful content. The book could have been easily condensed into an article. I'm surprised O'Reilly chose to publish

We purchased our house last year that has a beautiful wine cellar built by Perry Sims. His attention to detail is unmatched. His book highlights many of the important aspects that go into building a wine cellar. Some reviews complain that there are specific details missing, I would agree, but not for the same reasons. Perry builds custom high end cellars from scratch. With every cellar he builds he has to take into account a multitude of different variables, such as location to exterior walls, power available, ambient temperatures, and most importantly the desires of the owner. When our cellar ac unit went belly up we called him out for help, he was extremely professional and honest. He gave us options of replacement ac units he could install but never once tried to persuade us with a specific brand. He stated he does not feel comfortable recommending one brand over another as he is not in the business of selling ac units but rather building custom wine cellars the home owner will enjoy for generations. We picked a unit and a few weeks later he performed a flawless install. He truly is a artist when it comes to wood working. His book is a great guide for gainingideas and getting an understanding of what is involved in building a cellar. You can read 1000's of books but the bottom line is if your expecting to build one that compares to his workmanship your wasting your time.

Very informative book about the requirements needed to have an efficient and decorative wine cellar in your home. Has all the information needed for racks and equipment to keep the atmosphere perfect for storing wines. A must read for the home owner looking to create a cellar in an existing home or what to look for in building a cellar for a new home.

Covers everything I needed - mainly ideas for room and rack construction plus some decorative design concepts. Beautifully photographed and highly readable.

Good guide to build your own wine cellar.

The negative reviews here mystify me. This is a wonderfully illustrated book, that covers the details - such as the requirements for exterior walls - that other books miss.

Not very informative and poor layout.

This is a pretty book. It has nice pictures of some very pretty cellars. From a practical standpoint though, only about 25% of it is actually worthwhile. They should offer a scaled down version at at quarter of the price.

I am planning to build a 2,000 bottle cellar myself and have found the published literature on the subject inadequate. After purchasing this book, I am no better off than I was prior to reading it. The book is so general that unless you do not know what wine is, it will tell you almost nothing you do not already know. It spends an inordinate amount of time discussing things like how to install and use a wine cooler. I own two wine coolers already and I assume almost everyone planning a wine cellar knows what a wine cooler is and how to turn one on. It spends a bunch of time on wine drinking, selection and pouring which is not what anyone buying this book is looking for. It also spends time discussing how to put shelves in a closet or under stairs, all of which is common sense. I need help on what type of vapor barrier to buy, how thick the studs should be, what is the best lighting to use, what coolers are best, what insulation will handle moisture the best, how to level a basement floor prior to installing tile, what types of wall finishes are best, what wood is best for racks, what stain is best, what themometers and humidity sensors are best, most efficient and best looking floor plans, etc. This book offers no solutions to the real issues with building a cellar. I found more real information doing a few hours of web blog searches than I found in the same amount of time reading this book. I found the Richard Gold book on the subject much more informative even though it focuses on passive cellars and has no pretty color pictures.

I always enjoy reading about their customs

As someone who has worked with the Amish in the past,I'm struggling with all the words this writer uses that I've never heard from them. "Perhaps" instead of Maybe, "Cement" instead of Concrete, "Purchase" instead of Buy. They're simple people, not concerned with how "enlightened" they sound.

Strong emphasis on purity and Biblical principles of courtship

I enjoyed the first book, by Samantha Fisher. This second title was a bit lacking in continuity and reality. I think Ms Fisher has the talent to write a lengthier book with all the details of the story included. This read more like a book outline, as so many details were missing.

I teach high school biology and physical science . My students in general are probably on anywhere between a 4th-to on grade level learning. All of my students do much better with hands on activities so I thought coloring would be great. The book is defiantly for older students however-it helps raise the bar for my students in a less threatening way. With that said let me describe the book:On one page you get a lesson-as you read it it tell you to stop and color a part of the picture and then you continue to read-and then stop and color. That's awesome. Very paced and structured . In addition it's not just biology-it has covers everything from matter to covalent bonds -but covers way more biology. All in all a great buy.

I was under the impression that this would be filled with pages to color to supplement my course materials, as a fun way to study. Instead there is an abundance of pages that resemble a text book rather than actual coloring pages. The image on the front cover is probably the only page I would want, and that image I could have just printed out. I recommend finding printables online..

In our home, we have a high level of curiosity that drives us, so we find creative ways to learn and explore different ideas and subjects. I really like that "The Biology Coloring Book" is so much more than a mere coloring book. It has real information that provides a solid foundation for further study. This isn't heard toward little kids, but is appropriate for middle schoolers on up to high school. Grab your gel pens or colored pencils and order this book. You'll be glad you did!

If you have trouble with biology this will help. I'm in college and got this and it totally helped me pass my biology class. Would really be great for high school students too! Someday if I have kids, they will use this as well. Really worth it.

A lot more text than I expected and the diagrams to be colored were not what I expected. I used the Anatomy Coloring Book in college and it was helpful for me. I bought this for my daughter but do not think it will be as useful to her.

I had to take a Biology Placement (Accuplacer) Test in order to skip classes when I went back to school after a very long hiatus. (A lot of the science classes only have a 5-7 year life span in the academic world.) I had graduated in Zoology back in the day, so I have taken many biology courses. That being said, this book not only provided a very good review, but it also taught me a lot of things in depth that I was only somewhat familiar with. It was a time consuming review of biology, but being a very visual learner, everything stuck much better then it would have just doing practice tests. Oh, and I was able to pass my placement test with flying colors (one that was very much like the final exam of a basic college biology class).

This book was a great supplement to my college biology class. My class is online, so I was using every additional resource I could get my hands on. As a visual learner, this book was invaluable to me.After each section in my textbook, I would complete the pictures in the coloring book. The lesson on the left summarizes the most important concepts and being able to physically color in organelles as I was reading about them made all of the pieces fall together for me.I will definitely be buying the coloring books for other subjects as I continue my education.

I bought this for my daughter who loves to color but is also a bio major in college. This is a fantastic book. Explanations as well as coloring pages. It would be great for a high school, or even middle school science teacher!!
